Five Simple Steps to Pick Yourself Up

  1. Stop looking at the mirror too much

You get too self-conscious about every little detail on your body. Your hair might look flatter than this morning, which makes your head a little rounder. You notice the yellow stain on your teeth that you didn't think it was this yellow. We're all guilty of doing this, because we always compare ourselves to the one almighty body image that we force ourselves to follow to be considered pretty.

You are more than your appearance.

Portraitsbylinh offers not mere photography but a mirror, a much more accurate one. Through these pictures, we encourage you to see yourself with the kind eyes that others use to see you. Let them serve you as a reminder that you are enough.

2. Stop going on your phone

Scrolling through your phone gives you a chance to have a peak of other people's lives. Stacy just got a new car. Chloe's hair looks like it's been done by a hairdresser in every picture. This group of friends look like they have a grand time at a fancy restaurant.

Do you see a pattern here? The problem is that we couldn't make the previous observations without the words "look like", because the truth is, we do not know anything about anyone's life except for the pictures presented on social media.

Then why should we let the illusion steal our joy?

3. Self-reflection

Give yourself a break. You have been working hard to be where you are right now. It does not matter that you have a long way to go until you achieve big milestones like someone in her early 20s. What matters is that you've grown since yesterday. What matters is that you always strive to become a better version of yourself.

4. Find 3 things you're thankful for everyday

Classic practice that not a lot of people do. This practice helps you reflect on the abundance of your life (and abundance does not necessarily mean having a lot of material resources). Write about what you get to experience that not everyone has a chance to. Write about how strong you have been for yourself. Write about how this sunny 70-degree weather lifted you up today. Yes, the small things count.

5. Break the habits

Try something new. Whether it be taking yourself out for a date, learn a new skill, or do a photoshoot with your friends. This is a chance for you to learn self-love and realize that you are enough.
